1. Honey bees must collect nectar from over 2 million flowers to make one pound of honey!

 

2. A honey bee can fly for up to six miles, and as fast as 15 miles per hour.

 

3. A honey bee colony can consist of up to 60,000 honey bees and one queen. Worker honey bees are female. They live for about 6 weeks and do all the work.

 

4. The buzzing sound that you hear coming from a honey bee is the sound of its four wings beating at 200-230 beats per second.

 

5. The pollen honey bees carry from flowers not only goes to making honey, but also passes as the honey bee goes from flower to flower.
